| I needed a new watch and decided it had to be a Casio wave-ceptor model. Well, doesn’t everyone like the idea of having a watch that keeps the right time without having to adjust it? I wanted an alarm watch with a stainless steel case and bracelet and chose the Casio WVA-230DE-2AVER. This model has a dark blue face, is thinner than most at 11mm, is all metal, is water resistant and also has scratch resistant glass not found on cheaper models. The watch is everything I had hoped for and more. The watch and instruction booklet came in a round presentation tin with a free bracelet adjusting tool which was in a Casio box. This was wrapped in bubble wrap and packed in another cardboard box and was received on time. The watch looks very well made and is reassuringly heavy to prove it. In fact having been used to wearing a lightweight plastic Casio watch I wondered how it would feel on my wrist. I need not have been concerned because the watch feels very comfortable to wear now that I have adjusted the stainless steel bracelet using the neat little pin punch so generously provided free by tiktox.com. Free delivery and low prices too. On the Tiktox.com home page there is a logo link to Wave Ceptor Visual Set-Up Guides which I found very handy. Why can’t other on-line shops be this helpful I wonder? The watch came set to Ber (Berlin time) so I followed the instructions and set the watch to Lon. The fingers on the watch, as if by magic, immediately rotated to the correct time. By default the watch sets itself automatically by receiving a time calibration signal from a transmitter at night but you can start this process at any time. I tried accessing the transmitter manually and found the second hand did not swing round to the 12 o’clock position start point as stated in the instruction booklet. No worries though because this was easily corrected by referring to the instructions. My watch automatically receives the time calibration signal full strength with no problems despite me leaving it in a cupboard facing a window. The time remains within a second or two of the Greenwich meantime website clock. The alarms, stopwatch and world time are easy enough to set. I think the led back-light on this watch is its poorest feature which I would describe as adequate. I wouldn’t let that put me off buying it though. |
